Join the civic campaign 'Living ABC of Lithuanian'
To encourage the country's residents to become to become participants in the Biobank and contribute to the advancement of medical science, the Biobank of Lithuanian Population and Rare Disorders is organizing the civic campaign 'Living ABC of Lithuanian'.
Communities, company teams, non-governmental organizations, various institutions, and groups of residents from all over Lithuania are invited to join the campaign.

Campaign goal
The civic campaign 'Living ABC of Lithuanian' is an invitation for the entire society to come together for a meaningful and very important task – to donate a blood sample to the only population biobank in the country and thus contribute to creating a healthier Lithuania.
Together we will create the largest Lithuanian alphabet and become part of a collage uniting the entire country.
Where to register?
Gather your team, choose your desired alphabet letter, and register by email at biobank@mf.vu.lt. Once we receive your message, we will register your team and coordinate the practical aspects of blood sample collection for the population biobank.
How to participate in the campaign
After registering for the campaign, gather with your team at a chosen location, form any letter of the Lithuanian alphabet, and take a photo.
When forming your chosen alphabet letter, it is recommended to stand so that a square is visible from above, with the chosen letter clearly visible within it. Then photograph the living letter from above (from a building, balcony, using a drone, etc.). When viewed from above, the letter formed by people or other means should be clearly visible. Send your photos to the campaign organizers by email at biobank@mf.vu.lt.
The campaign will be crowned with an exhibition
At the end of the campaign, after collecting all alphabet letters, an exhibition will be organized from the received photos. Additionally, all photos will participate in a competition for the most numerous and most original photo title.
Important to know
- All Lithuanian residents can participate in the campaign and donate a blood sample to the biobank – adults and children from birth (with the consent of both parents).
- The blood collection procedure is simple and straightforward, during which up to 50 ml of blood is taken (similar to the amount taken during preventive tests).
- Anyone who is healthy can donate blood, as well as residents with controlled chronic diseases who feel well.
Where to donate a blood sample to the biobank?
- At the Vilnius University Medical Science Center (Žaliųjų Ežerų st. 2, Vilnius).
- During the campaign, mobile population biobank teams will also collect blood samples from residents.
- At the population biobank partner laboratories in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Šiauliai.
